Thank you to those of you who viewed the seminar today. It was nice to see some familiar faces and some new ones, too. I hope you guys enjoyed it. (^^)

As promised, here is my recipe for a basic American-style ice cream. Typically, American-style ice creams don’t use eggs, but you can add one if you like to thicken the dessert. If you want to make a chocolate ice cream, simply add cocoa powder as in the instructions. If not, you’ll have a sweet, easy vanilla ice cream. You can also experiment with other flavorings like chopped fruit, crushed cookies, or syrups. Have fun!

Simple American-style Ice Cream

Ingredients:

2 cups cream

1 cup milk

1/2 cup sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2-3/4 cup cocoa powder (optional)

1 large egg (optional)

Instructions:

1) If using egg to thicken, crack into sugar and whip until smooth. (A whisk or fork works well)

2) Add half of the cream (1 cup), and whip again.

3) Then add the remaining cream, milk, and vanilla. Combine!

4) If making chocolate ice cream, slowly add the cocoa powder, sprinkling a little bit each time. After each sprinkle, mix the powder in thoroughly. You can use an electric or hand mixer for this on medium. It will take about 4-5 times to add all of the powder.

5) Chill the mixture in the refrigerator 5-10 minutes until cold. Then pour into ice cream maker. (If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can put it directly in the freezer. Stir the contents every hour with a fork, whisk, or spoon.)

6) Transfer the ice cream to a container (not glass!), seal, and freeze! ☺
